Makeup & Hair
appointment Preparation guide
We are so excited to work with you for your makeup and hair appointment! Whether you have had your makeup and hair done before or this is your first time, these tips, tricks and guidelines are to ensure you get the most out of your Studio DG Beauty experience!
Following these instructions will give you the best makeup and hair outcome and longevity.
Your skin preparation is the most important step. Properly cared for and hydrated skin will make your makeup lay perfect and help extend the wear.
In the months, weeks and days leading up to your appointment keep your skin hydrated from the inside out. That means drinking plenty of water and hydrating your skin nightly. If you’re able, schedule a couple of facials & dermaplaning.
The night before your appointment wash your face and gently exfoliate the skin. I recommend double cleansing when washing. For example, I use a cleansing balm to gently remove all traces of makeup and then I wash with my face wash. Cleansing your face well and removing all makeup is very important. Please do not show up to your appointment with makeup on.
Our skin is very delicate so it is important to note that you should not schedule any intense skin treatments such as laser, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, waxing etc. too close to your appointment. Schedule these at least 2-3 weeks in advance to give your skin time to heal.
I am a BIG supporter of getting skin treatments done though because when your skin is top notch, so is your makeup! If you need a recommendation for your skin treatments go check out my preferred vendors list!
Your hair is just as important as your skin and should not be left out! A week or two before getting hair and makeup done, schedule to have your hair color touched up and trimmed if needed but now is not the time to try a new color or cut!
When you are selecting a hair style for your event, keep in mind that 95% of all photos and videos you see on social media the models or client has hair extensions. Extensions are going to make your hair style so much more full and make your style level up. If you are a bride, bridesmaid, mom or just have a special event and you feel your hair does not hold curl or is thin, it is always best to get some extensions. There are a few I recommend online as well as several stylists that do installs.
The night before or morning of your appointment wash your hair well with a clarifying shampoo, condition only from the ear down, apply a volumizing mousse and blow dry.
We do not work with wet hair and clean hair is best. Please do not show up with wet hair or greasy hair that has not been washed in days.
Wear something that you can easily remove without touching your makeup and hair. A white button up shirt or robe is best. White is neutral and does not reflect color onto your face and the button down allows us to easily spray your neck and chest if needed.
